Walk to School Week - Road Safety competition

During Walk to School Week, we held a Road Safety Poster competition.

We had to think about how to be safe as we walk to school.

Here are the children and their winning designs.

Year 6 trip to the AEGON Tennis Tournament

On Thursday 13th June 2013 we went to AEGON Tennis Tournament at Priory Tennis Courts, Edgbaston. It was really fun! When we first arrived we got to have our face painted, I got a beard and a silly moustache. We then went on to an assault course. We had to have lots of accuracy. Unfortunately it started to rain heavily so the tennis was cancelled. Everyone was disappointed. However when we got three tennis balls and a racket for free, everybody was happy again.
Thank you for the amazing day out.

On Thursday 13th June 2013, thirty children from Year 6 set off to Tennis. All of us were excited and wondered who we would see. Someone said Andy Murray, but unfortunately it was the ladies tennis tournament.
When we arrived everyone jumped up and down and was all excited. When we entered the place we all got our face painted, I had ‘Bad Boy’ on my face. After that we had our photo taken with a gigantic tennis racket. We then ate lunch but suddenly it started to rain very heavily and we all got wet. I liked getting wet but wondered what my mum would say if she saw me soaking wet. I really liked the part when we got to play tennis.
Unfortunately the tennis matches were cancelled due to the rain, so that upset us. However, we did get a tennis racket and three tennis balls for free. This was once in a life time trip and I enjoyed it a lot.

Year 5 & 6 residential to Bell Heath

In June, 48 children went to stay for three days and two nights at Bell Heath Residential Centre in Worcestershire.

One of our favourite team-building activities was the 'Trading Game'.
Teams have to collect and find a variety of natural objects and trade them for equipment to help build a shelter. The shelter had to be waterproof as rain is always forecast towards the end of the activity!

We also had to work together to create an environmental art exhibition in the style of Andy Goldsworthy.

We enjoyed supporting one another on the ropes course in the woods. Some parts of the course were more challenging than others!

We tried really hard to hit the bulls eye in archery and had a big game of football before dinner.

At meal times, we sat on team tables and had to tidy and clean up after ourselves. The meals were lovely!

Some of us really faced our fears with rock climbing!

There were lots of problems to solve together over the three days! We had a fabulous time and the sun shone every day!
We can't wait to go again next year!
